ROMA soccer (futbol) game

Yesterday I went to see a Roma soccer game.
I have been to MANY sports events in the states, and i have never felt the same atmosphere as i did at the Roma game.
At first I couldnt really pinpoint what made it feel so different.
I thought maybe it was the difference in the stadium (it was less "high tech"). Then i thought maybe it was the sport. But i suddenly realized it wasnt the stadium or the sport...it was the fans.
In the states i feel as though people go to sports events for entertainment. But here in Rome they go to the soccer games to show their love of their city, their love of ROMA! The fans were almost like a family. They are not all connected by blood, but they are all connected to one another by a common love of not only soccer but of their city.
At the end of the game the Roma song played through the stadium speakers over and over. The fans sung the Roma song again and again not only with their mouths but with their hearts.
